Job summary

The Charles Schwab Corporation seeks an AI Security Engineer to join the AI Security Engineering Team within Schwab Cybersecurity Services. You will work to secure AI systems across the enterprise, building and maintaining internal security libraries, validators, and output guards.

You will collaborate closely with senior developers and integrate security features into CI/CD pipelines. The role emphasizes a security-first mindset, thorough testing, and effective communication, with on-site work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Basic programming skills in Java, .NET or Python.
• Understanding of secure coding principles and OWASP basics.
• Familiarity with GitHub and CI/CD tools.
• Exposure to or strong interest in cloud AI/ML frameworks (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, GCP Vertex AI).
• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to write clean, testable code.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal AI security libraries and validators for prompt inputs.
• Create output guards to prevent insecure execution and protect PII.
• Support redaction and PII-protection features; write unit tests for code quality.
• Integrate libraries with developer workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and common frameworks to improve adoption.

The Schwab Cybersecurity Services (SCS) organization is a centralized Center of Excellence (COE) within Schwab Technology Services (STS) that provides security services to advance Schwab’s security posture of critical assets.

The AI Security Engineering Team is specialized group within SCS responsible for securing the design, deployment, and operation of AI systems across the enterprise. We are looking for the right candidate to join our team as a AI Security Engineer with responsibilities that include:

This engineer will work closely with senior developers to build and maintain the internal AI security libraries. Duties include developing validators for prompt inputs, creating output guards against insecure execution, supporting redaction and PII-protection features, and writing unit tests to maintain code quality. The role will also assist in integrating the libraries with developer workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and common frameworks to improve adoption across teams.
