Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a software engineer for the Safety Systems team to design and implement robust systems that detect and prevent abuse, promote user safety, and reduce risk across the platform.

You will collaborate with engineers and researchers to build anti-abuse capabilities, monitor AI models for alignment with human values, and address platform incidents with scalable tooling and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Experience building production services in a high-growth, rapidly scaling environment.
• Proficient in Python and modern languages such as C++, Rust, or Go.
• Familiarity with content safety, anti-abuse, or safety domains is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain anti-abuse and content moderation infrastructure to protect users from unwanted behavior.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to apply AI techniques for model alignment with human values.
• Diagnose incidents, improve tooling, and address root causes of platform failures.
