Job summary

Archetype AI is seeking an AI Researcher to design, train, and interpret large-scale models that learn directly from raw sensor streams. You will work at the intersection of representation learning, multimodal learning, and physical-world sensing, shaping core technology used across real-world applications.

You will collaborate with engineers and product teams, publish research at top conferences, and contribute to Archetype’s growing research presence in Silicon Valley.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience developing advanced ML/AI systems with real-world sensor data.
• Strong expertise in deep learning architectures, especially transformers.
• Strong research and experimentation skills; able to design and evaluate new approaches.
• Excellent Python programming with PyTorch.
• Ability to move quickly from idea to prototype.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, distributed team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and train foundation models for sensor data across multimodal modalities.
• Develop new approaches for representation learning and self-supervised learning from raw sensor streams.
• Adapt pretrained models to new datasets, sensing modalities, environments, and customer use cases.
• Identify model limitations, diagnose failure modes, and run targeted experiments to improve performance.
• Collaborate with engineers and product teams to translate research into production systems.
• Publish research at top ML conferences and share findings publicly to build Archetype’s research presence.
