Job summary

Google DeepMind in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Research Scientist to advance multimodal AI research. You will set up large-scale tests, prototype ideas, and deploy promising concepts across domains, from core ML to NLP and vision.

You will publish findings, collaborate with world-class researchers, and contribute to safety, ethics, and product impact. Compensation includes US base pay in the range of $147000-$211000 plus 15% bonus target, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent practical experience in CS/ML.
• Experience in developing multimodal AI models.
• Experience in research design, implementation, analysis.
• Proficient in Python and DL frameworks (JAX/Flax/Gemma).
• Publication record in ML conferences.

Responsibilities

• Generate new ideas and discuss directions with researchers.
• Design and implement ideas, interfaces, and tools to explore new sociotechnical AI systems.
• Report findings clearly and publicly, verbally and in writing.
• Collaborate across teams to meet ambitious research goals.
• Take ownership of major technical projects from ideation to evaluation.
