Job summary

Equifax is seeking an AI Research Engineer to develop Transformer-based models for structured and time-series credit risk data, with a focus on representation learning and interpretable AI. The role supports a long-horizon initiative under senior mentorship and involves collaboration with the internal ML Engineering team.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with two remote days and three onsite days weekly, reporting to Alpharetta, GA or Midtown Atlanta. Immigration sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

• PhD in ML/AI/CS/EE or related field with 3+ years post-degree experience; or MS with 5+ years relevant experience.
• Strong foundation in transformer architectures and sequence modeling.
• Experience analyzing learned representations and model activations.

Responsibilities

• Build and experiment with transformer-based models for structured and time-series credit data.
• Interpret learned representations and attention patterns to understand model behavior.
• Conduct ablations, hyperparameter sweeps, and controlled experiments to validate hypotheses.
• Develop research prototypes using PyTorch/TensorFlow and collaborate with ML Engineering to integrate into production pipelines.
• Advance core models toward broader discriminative and generative modeling architectures.
