Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites recent computer science or engineering graduates to join the Artificial Intelligence group within REDD. You will explore foundational AI research addressing national security challenges and work with a vibrant team of researchers in ISC.

You'll design experiments, build research software on GPU/HPC resources, analyze results, and contribute to publications while advancing open-ended AI capabilities in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Hands-on AI/ML research experience from university/lab/internship/capstone/project.
  • Proficiency in Python with PyTorch.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret security clearance and ultimately Top Secret; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement experiments involving foundation models, agents, or autonomous systems.
  • Develop research software and testbeds for GPU/HPC resources.
  • Analyze results, communicate findings and contribute to publications.
  • Translate open-ended research questions into prototype capabilities for national security.
