Job summary

KeyCorp seeks an AI-Ready Context Engineer/ Ontologist to design and maintain enterprise data domain models, taxonomies, and ontologies for semantic consistency and AI-enabled use across BI, ML, and LLM tasks.

You will operationalize data models via the Enterprise Data Catalog (Alation), enforce standards, resolve conflicts, and partner with analytics, data science, and technology teams to drive governance and measurable value.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience with data, metadata, and reference data frameworks.
• Proven ability to establish metadata governance, policies, roles, and controls.
• Hands-on experience with Enterprise Data Catalogs (Alation or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise data domain models, taxonomy, and ontologies for semantic consistency.
• Design and evolve information and semantic models to make enterprise data AI-ready for analytics and LLM use cases.
• Operationalize models through the Enterprise Data Catalog (Alation).
• Define standards for data modeling, taxonomy, nomenclature, and semantic structures.
• Provide guidance on semantic conflicts and harmonize cross-domain terms.
• Contribute to the enterprise data product framework enabling cross-domain AI consumption.
• Document prioritized metadata elements for key processes and AI-enabled workflows.
• Identify simplification opportunities to reduce redundancy and improve trust.
• Partner with analytics, data science, and AI teams to ensure governed AI outcomes.
• Shaped governance strategy and roadmaps as a thought partner.

This role defines and enforces standards for data modeling, taxonomy, semantic structures, and knowledge representation to ensure consistency, interoperability, and clarity across the organization.The AI-Ready Context Engineer/ Ontologist partners closely with business and technology teams to develop and maintain the enterprise data domain model and ontologies that support governance frameworks, trusted analytics, and downstream consumption across business intelligence (BI), applied AI/ML, and Large Language Model (LLM) use cases. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.
