Vooma is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to join our founding team in California. This pivotal role will connect our AI technology with real-world systems in the freight industry, ensuring seamless integration and immediate impact on customers.

Qualifications

• Comfortable moving between backend APIs and frontend interfaces.
• Fluent in REST/GraphQL, webhooks, message queues, and authentication schemes.
• Hands-on with prompt engineering, vector search, and evaluation metrics.
• Can seamlessly switch between C-suite strategy discussions and technical details.
• Willing to hack, test, and refactor under tight deadlines.
• Can break complex logistics processes into modular components.
• Unblocks blockers; no 'not my job' mindset.
• Comfortable with evolving specs, shifting requirements, and startup environment.
• Willing to spend up to 25% of time on-site.

Responsibilities

• Run discovery sessions with freight brokers, carriers, and 3PL IT teams.
• Design end-to-end solutions and map data flows.
• Build and ship clean code (Python/TypeScript) and APIs.
• Release small, validate in production, and iteratively improve.
• Craft comprehensive test suites and ensure go-live success.
• Document workflows, train users, and create playbooks.
• Set realistic timelines and coordinate cross-functional stakeholders.
• Act as technical first responder during critical production phases.
