Job summary

Nexla, based in San Mateo, CA, is hiring an early-career software engineer to help build AI-native connectors and agentic data workflows. You will ship scalable runtimes, design LLM-backed features, and tackle challenging data problems for a next-generation data platform.

You will collaborate across backend, runtime, and front-end areas, with direct exposure to leadership. This role emphasizes ownership, fast delivery, and building with modern data stacks.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years software engineering experience.
• Polyglot in modern backend language(s) with ability to pick up others.
• Full-stack range across backend, data/runtime, and frontend/infra.
• CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, REST/HTTP.
• High agency, urgency, ownership, and production responsibility.
• The builder spirit with open-source or side projects is preferred.
• AI-native mindset with experience using AI tools and workflows.
• Ability to collaborate across teams including India/Europe leadership.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-native connectors with pagination, schema evolution, rate-limiting, and LLMs.
• Design prompts, tool schemas, eval harnesses, and guardrails for LLM features.
• Work with distributed runtimes like Ray/Arrow; optimize throughput and cost.
• Address dirty data with self-recovery, probes, and automated retries.
• Contribute across backend, runtime, orchestration, and frontend as needed.
• Partner with CTO on multi-tenancy, low latency, and AI-native workflows.
• Document SDKs and RFCs to enable platform use.
