Job summary

The AI-Native Software Engineering Directorate at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) within Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an AI-Native Architect to help organizations modernize architectures with AI, create agentic workflows, and accelerate AI-native software engineering while preserving essential quality.

You will collaborate with world-class engineers and researchers, guide customer architectures, prototype systems, and contribute to publications and presentations that advance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in CS/SE with 10+ years experience, OR MS with 8 years, OR PhD with 5 years.
• Willing to undergo background investigation and obtain DoW security clearance.
• Willing to travel up to 25% to SEI offices, sponsor sites, and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer system challenges and recommend technical solutions.
• Review existing systems and design modernization strategies to address contemporary challenges.
• Create novel architectures and reference architectures to meet customer needs.
• Coach engineering teams in achieving architecture-scale changes and prototyping systems.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI to diverse architecture challenges and workflows.
• Share experiences, solutions, and best practices with the technical community via publications and presentations.
