Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT seeks an AI/ML Engineer for the Hot Section Engineering group to develop machine learning models for turbine components and physics-based simulations.

You will collaborate with RTX AI/ML teams, communicate solutions to stakeholders, and deploy models for fleet analytics and design, with onsite work and relocation support available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM.
  • 2+ years of engineering experience or an advanced degree with 1+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with high-performance distributed computing.
  • Knowledge of ML architectures and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
  • Experience applying ML to real-world physics-based simulations (structural, CFD, thermal).
  • Strong Python programming skills and SQL proficiency.

  • Work with the AI/ML team to develop and apply novel machine learning frameworks and methodologies supporting the design and evaluation of turbine components for the Hot Section Engineering organization.

What Will You Do

  • Experience with solving and using machine learning for real world problems involving scientific & engineering simulations (e.g., structural, CFD, thermal).
  • Strong Python programming skills and SQL proficiency

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)

Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
