Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA, is seeking an Engineering Specialist to advance AI/ML applications for information extraction, computer vision, and predictive modeling in support of national missions. Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited program in the physical sciences, engineering, computer science or related technical discipline.
  • Eight or more years of experience post bachelor’s degree working with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Experienced using Python to implement AI/ML and data science solutions.
  • Strong desire to grow your knowledge and expertise in the application of AI/ML to data fusion, computer vision, pattern recognition, anomaly detection and predictive modeling.
  • Desire to learn signal and/or image processing and the underlying physical phenomenologies.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI access clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

The Sensor Modeling and Simulation Department (SMSD) supports all aspects of advanced remote sensing system development: designing and assessing the performance of optics and electro-optical focal plane arrays, modeling the end-to-end sensing system, simulating target scenes and atmospheres, developing innovative data processing and computer vision algorithms, and producing simulated data products for new applications. The department’s Machine Intelligence Exploitation section specializes in applying Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) to extract information from and enhance the value of our customers’ data. Applications include data fusion/integration, computer vision, pattern recognition and anomaly detection on large, varied datasets for automation, discovery, and predictive modeling.

Work Model: The selected candidate will be required to work full time on-site at our facility at Chantilly, VA

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop innovative and sophisticated AI/ML applications for information extraction including computer vision, data fusion, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection in support of automation and predictive modeling

What You Need to be Successful – Engineering Specialist

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited program in the physical sciences, engineering, computer science or related technical discipline.
  • Eight or more years of experience post bachelor’s degree working with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Experienced using Python to implement AI/ML and data science solutions.
  • Strong desire to grow your knowledge and expertise in the application of AI/ML to data fusion, computer vision, pattern recognition, anomaly detection and predictive modeling
  • Desire to learn signal and/or image processing and the underlying physical phenomenologies

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for Sr. Engineering Specialist:

  • Twelve years of experience after bachelor’s degree
  • Background in signal processing, image science, spectral analysis, spatial analysis and/or computer vision
  • Demonstrated expertise in Deep Learning, Graph Applications, Natural Language Processing, and/or large databases
How You Can Stand Out
  • Advanced degree from an accredited program in Remote Sensing, Imaging Science, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Optical or Electrical Engineering, or another related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience applying machine learning techniques to remote sensor data
  • Experience with agile software development and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience with signal and/or image processing
  • Proven experience in leadership and ability to mentor junior staff
  • Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills. (Min - Max) $129,000.00 - $249,600.00 Pay Basis: Annual
