Job summary

Pennsylvania State University is seeking highly motivated Research and Development Engineers to join the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) in State College, PA or Reston, VA. You will design and implement ML systems, visualize data, and present research findings within a DoD-sponsored program.

You will collaborate with sponsors and ARL staff, supervise junior team members, and lead specific tasks. A strong background in data science, ML, and Python is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science required.
• 19+ years of relevant experience for senior levels.
• Experience in data science/mipeline development for ML applications.
• Active TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine learning systems, models, and schemes.
• Research and apply ML prototypes to sponsor domains.
• Select data sets for collection and modeling.
• Visualize data for insights and decision support.
• Generate technical research reports and briefings.
• Perform statistical analysis for pattern of life and anomaly detection.
• Data fusion and correlation between sources.
• Build software prototypes integrated with ARL environments.
• Collaborate with ARL staff and sponsors.
• Supervise lower-level staff and undergraduates; lead task work packages.
