Job summary

Dev Technology Group is seeking rising juniors and seniors for its Summer 2027 Internship Program in Reston, VA. Interns will gain hands-on experience in data science, AI/ML, and product development while supporting government and research projects.

You will participate in Agile development, analyze data, and contribute to a mentorship-driven team with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Rising students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computational Science, AI, DS or CS with AI focus.
• Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebook, and data science libraries.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with developers.
• A desire to learn new skills and self-study when needed.
• Completion of coursework in Java, Python or other OO languages.
• Ability to commute to Reston, VA office at least 2 days/week.

Responsibilities

• Work on an advanced technology project for a government client, corporate ops or R&D.
• Participate in Agile software development and Scrum ceremonies.
• Develop solutions using modern data science, AI and ML practices.
• Analyze data and create visualizations to identify trends in large datasets.
• Write and maintain user guide documentation.

Dev Technology Group seeks talented rising juniors and seniors for our Summer 2027 Internship Program. Interns will be based out of our headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This is an excellent opportunity for those seeking professional experience in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, AI integration, and product development.

What You'll Be Doing:

Dev interns will work on an advanced technology project in support of a government client, corporate operations, or research and development. This is an opportunity to improve software development, AI, and data outcomes, and observe and participate in many aspects of an Agile software development project. Interns will also work on a technical intern project with the rest of the internship team.

• Practice Agile methodology by attending all Scrum-related meetings, such as daily stand-ups, weekly sprint planning, and weekly retros
• Develop solutions using modern data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning practices
• Analyze data and create visualizations to recognize meaningful trends in large datasets
• Perform various lean-agile investigation methods, including root-cause analysis
• Develop software in support of various data and AI objectives
• Use a variety of modern software tooling
• Work with fellow Summer Interns on a technically focused project and present the group's results to the executive team at the end of the program. Past projects have included creating a mentorship web application and planning a hack-a-thon
• Write and maintain user guide documentation

Required Skills and Experience:

• Rising juniors and seniors working toward a bachelor’s degree in Computational Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Computer Science with a focus on AI
• Experience with Python, Jupyter Notebook, and associated data science libraries
• The ability to work independently and in a team with developers, providing guidance and support
• A desire to learn new skills, including self-study if needed
• The ability to follow through on tasks to completionTrue enjoyment of technology, data, and the desire to contribute to a team’s output
• Completed coursework in Java, Python, or other object-oriented, typed language
• The ability to read through existing code with the support of a senior developer
• Must be able to commute to the Reston, Virginia office a minimum of 2 days a week

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Rising senior (strongly preferred)
• Experience with implementing AI solutions using cloud-based or cloud-native tools
• Experience with data cleansing
• Experience with data architecture concepts and design
• Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and related frameworks.

Our estimated salary range for this position is $21-$30/hr. This presented salary range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Offered salary is based on experience, geographic location, and possibly contractual requirements as appropriate to the role. *Salary could fall outside of this range.
