Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to design, develop, and deploy production ML and reinforcement learning solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.

You will build scalable models, RL environments, and orchestration pipelines within an AI COE team, collaborating with software engineers, data scientists, cloud architects, and domain experts. Qualifications

• Strong ML and DL foundation with production experience.
• Hands-on Python development and ML deployment skills.
• Experience with PyTorch and/or TensorFlow.
• Proven RL development and deployment experience.
• Ability to frame problems as RL tasks; familiarity with simulation.
• Experience with Git, testing, CI/CD, and production software.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, evaluate, and deploy ML and DL models.
• Develop RL solutions for complex decision problems.
• Build RL environments, rewards, policies, and evals.
• Train and optimize agents with simulation/operational data.
• Explore PPO, SAC, DQN, Actor‑Critic methods and more.
• Create scalable training, inference, monitoring, retraining workflows.
• Collaborate with software engineers to ship AI features.
• Contribute to MLOps, experiment tracking, and model versioning.
• Prototype Generative AI, Agentic AI, LLMs, RAG tech.
• Work with data scientists, cloud architects, and domain experts.
