Job summary

Formulate Labs in Mountain View, CA is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to build the intelligence layer for a prompt-to-matter platform. You’ll ship production ML that interfaces with robotics, sensors, and controls in a real manufacturing environment.

You’ll design models and data pipelines, run live experiments, and collaborate with hardware and software engineers to turn measurement into reliable, scalable decision-making across factories worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building and deploying ML systems in production.
• Strong foundation in statistics, optimization and ML fundamentals.
• Experience with reinforcement learning, Bayesian optimization, control systems, or experimental design.
• Strong Python skills and familiarity with modern ML frameworks.
• Experience with messy real-world data from physical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy machine learning systems that optimize manufacturing processes.
• Build RL or optimization loops for process control and parameter tuning.
• Develop models linking formulation inputs to real-world outcomes.
• Collaborate with robotics and controls engineers to integrate ML into production.
• Design data pipelines for telemetry, quality signals, and experiments.
• Run controlled experiments to improve yield and product performance.
• Translate business goals into measurable optimization objectives.
• Work with Product and Engineering to deploy ML safely and reliably.
• Continuously improve model performance using real-world feedback.
