Job summary

Micron Technology, Inc. is seeking an AI/ML Engineer/Architect to research, design, and deploy scalable AI solutions across engineering domains in Boise, Idaho.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-5+ years of software engineering, systems design, ML/AI.
  • Experience with Python or similar languages.
  • Hands-on with AI/ML tech including ML frameworks, Generative AI, or LLMs.
  • Understanding of software architecture and scalable design principles.

Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI/ML technologies and architectures across SPG.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions to improve productivity and automation.
  • Lead PoC and rapid prototyping to validate AI capabilities and business value.
  • Architect and integrate AI-powered apps into production with security and reliability.
  • Develop and implement best practices for AI development, deployment, governance and lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, coding assistants, and intelligent automation across engineering teams.
  • Define and promote responsible AI standards including evaluation, compliance, security, transparency, and risk management.
  • Partner with firmware, validation, product engineering, business ops, and software teams to identify AI opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership in selecting AI platforms, frameworks, and tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, evaluate, and prototype emerging AI/ML technologies and architectures to address engineering and operational challenges across SPG.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable AI/ML solutions that improve productivity, quality, automation, and decision-making.
  • Lead proof-of-concept and rapid prototyping efforts to validate new AI capabilities and demonstrate business value.
  • Architect and integrate AI-powered applications into production environments while ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and implement best practices for AI development, deployment, monitoring, governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption of Generative AI, Agentic AI, coding assistants, and intelligent automation tools across engineering organizations.
  • Define and promote responsible AI standards, including model evaluation, compliance, security, transparency, and risk management.
  • Partner with firmware, validation, product engineering, business operations, and software development teams to identify and prioritize high-impact AI opportunities.
  • Provide technical leadership in selecting AI platforms, frameworks, and development tools.
  • Present technical findings, architectural recommendations, and implementation strategies to stakeholders, engineering teams, and senior leadership.
  • Mentor engineers and champion AI/ML best practices throughout the organization.
  • Stay current on advancements in machine learning, large language models, agent frameworks, and AI-enabled software development methodologies.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2 - 5+ years of experience in software engineering, systems design, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or related technical disciplines.
  • Experience developing and deploying software solutions using Python or similar programming languages.
  • Hands‑on experience with AI/ML technologies, including machine learning frameworks, Generative AI, or Large Language Models.
  • Understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, and scalable application design principles.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating third‑party technologies, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and business functions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, systems architecture, research engineering, or advanced software development.
  • Deep expertise with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), Agentic AI systems, and Generative AI applications.
  • Experience using and extending modern AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, AI agents, and autonomous development frameworks.
  • Experience building enterprise AI platforms, AI copilots, or intelligent automation solutions.
  • Knowledge of MLOps, LLMOps, model deployment pipelines, monitoring, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience establishing responsible AI, AI governance, security, or compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor, storage, SSD, firmware, validation, or systems engineering environments.
  • Experience applying AI to engineering productivity, software development, test automation, validation, or product lifecycle workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical strategy and drive organizational adoption of emerging technologies.
