Job summary

Waypoint Human Capital seeks an AI/ML Engineer to support government satellite programs. You will develop and evaluate ML algorithms for space-surveillance, working with optical and radar sensors, predictive models, and HPC environments.

The role requires experience in Python and/or C++, ML techniques, and data analysis, plus the ability to collaborate with AI/ML, astrodynamics, sensing and HPC experts. On-site in Chantilly, VA with active TS/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Math, or related field.
  • Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph test.
  • Experience in Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA).
  • Experience in designing, developing, and evaluating ML algorithms (supervised/unsupervised/RL).
  • Experience building, training, and tuning predictive models.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing algorithms (anomaly detection, prediction, classification, optimization, clustering).
  • Experience developing High-Performance Computing pipelines for scalability/monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
  • Ability to conduct independent trade studies and technical assessments.
  • Ability to review algorithms/results from external teams.

Responsibilities

This role will develop and evaluate machine learning algorithms for space-surveillance and satellite applications, working with optical and radar sensor data, predictive models, and high-performance computing environments.   • Develop new Machine Learning (ML) algorithms for applications such as:
    • Using optical and radar space-surveillance sensors to recognize different types of satellites.
    • Scheduling space surveillance sensor networks to find, recognize and track maneuvering satellites.
    • Deciding what activities satellites should undertake.
