Overview

Citizen Health is building an AI‑driven patient‑centric platform that uses patients' complete medical histories to produce actionable insights for clinical decision‑making and day‑to‑day care.

Role

As an AI/Machine Learning Engineer you will lead the design and deployment of advanced AI solutions that transform complex health data into high‑value insights for patients, clinicians, and researchers.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement end‑to‑end machine learning solutions—from data preprocessing to model deployment and monitoring.
  • Develop and optimize Large Language Model (LLM) solutions for healthcare applications, including fine‑tuning and Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Create robust data pipelines for validation and deployment of medical data (structured clinical data, medical imaging, unstructured text).
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate ML models into production infrastructure.
  • Ensure ML systems meet strict healthcare compliance requirements while maintaining high performance.
  • Implement monitoring systems for model performance, data drift, and system health.
  • Lead research initiatives to explore and apply state‑of‑the‑art AI/ML techniques.
  • Collaborate with clinical experts to validate model outputs and ensure medical accuracy.
Must‑Have Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering with a focus on production ML systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and AI/LLM frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI).
  • Experience designing and implementing production‑grade ML pipelines.
  • Proven track record of deploying ML/LLM solutions in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of ML fundamentals, including deep learning, NLP, and statistical modeling.
  • Familiar with MLOps tools and best practices.
  • Strong software engineering skills and coding best practices.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Skills
  • Hands‑on experience integrating and optimizing LLMs in production environments.
  • Proficiency with LLM tools and techniques such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Prompt Engineering.
  • Experience with Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
  • Knowledge of vector databases and efficient similarity search techniques for AI applications.
  • Familiarity with message queuing systems and data streaming platforms.
  • Strong architectural design and coding quality.
  • Passion for building robust, scalable AI‑driven systems in healthcare.

Compensation

U.S. / San Francisco, CA – $150 K – $300 K annual.
