Job summary

United Risk in New York seeks an AI Engineer to join a small team of specialists. You’ll work with underwriters and operations staff to adapt existing tools and build new solutions that fit real-world needs. This role emphasizes infrastructure: deploying, running, and securing the AI systems that drive our underwriting workflow.

Three senior AI engineers review your work and mentor you as you grow. Candidates with Python, SQL, Linux and cloud experience, plus a demonstrated project in cloud

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/IT or related field.
• 0-4 years of experience, including internships and co-ops.
• Strong Python and working SQL.
• Comfort with Linux, the command line and at least one major cloud platform.
• Projects showing cloud deployment, data pipelines, or CI/CD / monitoring.
• Curiosity about how the insurance business runs and willingness to learn.
• Clear communication with non-technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with underwriters and operations staff to adapt and build AI tools.
• Focus on infrastructure: deploying, running and securing AI applications.
• Build applications and work with data alongside senior AI engineers who mentor you.
