POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is building out a dedicated AI team and is looking for an AI Governance Engineer to help put practical guardrails around AI adoption across the business. This is a hands-on role focused on implementing controls within the Microsoft AI ecosystem, with a strong emphasis on enabling innovation rather than slowing it down. It's a great fit for someone technically curious and self-directed who enjoys working in a fast-moving space.

This is a remote-friendly role, with Denver-area candidates preferred. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Close governance gaps across Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, and related tools, including agent controls, access, and data protection.
  • Configure and operationalize Microsoft Purview, DLP, sensitivity labeling, and Agent 365 controls.
  • Apply tiered governance: light-touch controls for self-service AI and more rigorous protocols for enterprise-grade agents.
  • Bring existing, organically built agents into alignment with standards through practical remediation rather than rebuilds.
  • Build intake, risk classification, approval, and monitoring processes, along with reporting on adoption, compliance, usage, and credit consumption.
  • Partner with Security, Architecture, Engineering, and business teams to implement controls and address unsanctioned AI tool usage.
  • Track changes across the Microsoft AI platform and recommend improvements as capabilities evolve.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years in technology governance, GRC, IT security, data governance, or Microsoft 365 administration, with hands-on delivery in an enterprise environment. Personal or side projects alone are not sufficient.
  • Hands-on experience governing or administering:
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio.
  • Power Platform governance, including environment strategy, DLP policies, and CoE practices.
  • Microsoft Purview.
  • Entra ID access controls as they apply to agents and connectors.
  • Working knowledge of LLMs, AI agents, connector and data access risks, and responsible AI principles.
  • Ability to work autonomously across distributed time zones.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain governance requirements to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
ADDITIONAL PLUS
  • Experience with Microsoft Agent 365, AI cost and consumption governance, or Power BI governance dashboards.
  • Experience in an industry with a significant field or frontline workforce, such as construction, energy, utilities, or mining.
  • Familiarity with Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, or ChatGPT Enterprise.
  • Automation or low-code experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, or PowerShell.
  • Exposure to NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, or the EU AI Act.
  • Relevant certifications, such as SC-401, MS-102, PL-600, AI-900, or IAPP AIGP.
SALARY / WAGE RANGE

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience, and may fall outside of the range shown.
