Job summary

Great Sky, Inc. in Boulder is seeking an AI Frameworks Engineer to build the core software layer that connects research ideas to scalable AI systems. You will design abstractions, APIs, and graph execution paths for training and validation.

You will work with Python, JAX, and PyTorch, organize research code into stable components, and bridge research workflows with production harnesses. The role emphasizes testing, documentation, and collaboration with researchers and hardware/software engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong Python software engineering skills for libraries and infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks, especially JAX or PyTorch.
• Experience with training-loop internals, losses, gradients, optimizers, metrics.
• Experience designing clean APIs and abstractions in large codebases.
• Ability to reason about graph-structured computation and runtime state.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain core AI framework abstractions for graph models.
• Build Python APIs for training workflows, losses, optimizers, and runtimes.
• Develop JAX and PyTorch infrastructure for model execution and testing.
• Design validation systems with clear diagnostics for researchers and production users.
• Organize research code into stable, well-tested framework components.
• Create clean seams between research workflows and production harnesses.
• Write high-quality tests for numerical behavior and protocol conformance.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate requirements into architecture.
• Improve developer ergonomics: docs, examples, errors, and API consistency.
