Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks a Software Development Manager for AI Foundations to lead an engineering team building the AI infrastructure for Leo. You will own roadmaps, mentor engineers, and partner with satellite and network domains to deliver production AI systems with strong security and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management
• 7+ years engineering experience
• 8+ years leading definition and development of multi-tier web services
• 1+ years providing technical leadership and project management across SDLC
• 1+ years developing large-scale distributed software systems (Java/C#/C++)
• 1+ years developing large-scale distributed software systems using SOA
• 1+ years distributed programming experience
• 5+ years of Software Engineer/Developer experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in CS/Engineering/Math
• Knowledge of full software/hardware/networks lifecycle and best practices
• Experience partnering with product/program management
• Experience delivering production systems built on large language models or ML

Responsibilities

• Build, lead and develop a team of software engineers and applied scientists from onboarding through career growth.
• Own the team's roadmap and delivery: translate the AI Foundations charter into goals and launches.
• Lead the technical design and architecture of agentic AI systems for Leo.
• Bring knowledge of AI including LLMs, agent frameworks, retrieval and evaluation methods.
• Deliver production AI systems with evaluation, access controls and ops readiness.
• Own end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-team initiatives with domain teams retaining service ownership.
• Set and uphold engineering bar: design, security reviews, testing and on-call health.
• Make prioritization calls in ambiguous, fast-moving environment and communicate trade-offs.
