Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a People Research Data Scientist focused on AI fairness and bias testing. You will design rigorous assessments to identify, measure, and mitigate bias across the lifecycle of models and employee processes, spanning hiring, performance, and development.

The role emphasizes evaluating both technical systems and human-AI workflows, building scalable evaluation infrastructure, and delivering actionable recommendations to senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience evaluating high-impact decision systems.

• Ability to translate findings for senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Define fairness and bias-testing strategies for AI-enabled People processes and models.
• Design algorithmic audits including adverse-impact and subgroup analyses.
• Evaluate end-to-end human-AI decision systems and their impact on equity.
• Develop scalable evaluation pipelines and self-service tools.
• Collaborate with engineering, People Ops, Legal, Privacy, and Security teams.
• Translate findings into clear recommendations for leadership.
