Job summary

AlphaLife Sciences seeks an AI Engineer Leader to drive AI innovation for clinical workflows. You will lead a small team, design and prototype AI/LLM solutions, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to deliver practical AI-enabled improvements.

You will mentor engineers, stay current with AI research, and apply advances to accelerate processes and insights in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science or related field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading AI/ML initiatives, products, or teams.
• Strong programming skills in Python and at least one additional language such as Java, C++.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, model evaluation, and related AI technologies.
• Experience building, deploying, and maintaining AI systems in production environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, drive architectural decisions, and mentor engineers.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functional with Product, Engineering, and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with ambiguity and evolving priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of AI engineers and guide their development on project tasks.
• Design, develop, and prototype AI/LLM solutions for real-world clinical workflows.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to implement innovative AI solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and support skill development and productivity.
• Stay up to date with cutting-edge AI/ML research and apply relevant advances to projects.
