Job summary

Welltower is seeking an AI Engineer, Platform and Data to build the data pipelines, model orchestration layer, and the APIs that applications rely on. You will own reliability, data integrity, and the handling of sensitive information in a fast-moving environment.

This hands-on role offers scale and autonomy within a leader in wellness-focused real estate, with opportunities to shape the data platform and drive long-term value across our portfolios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
• 6+ years in backend, data, or ML infrastructure engineering, shipping production systems at scale.
• Experience building and operating APIs and services that other engineers build on.
• Hands-on with LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, or model serving in production.
• Rigor around data security and access control, ideally with regulated or sensitive data.
• Based in the NYC metro area and able to work on-site.

SUMMARY

The AI Engineer, Platform and Data builds the core that everything else runs on: the data pipelines, the model and agent orchestration layer, and the APIs the applications sit on top of. You own reliability, data integrity, and the handling of sensitive data, and you turn one-off solutions into reusable platform capability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related technical field
• 6+ years in backend, data, or ML infrastructure engineering, shipping production systems at scale

• Hands-on with LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, or model serving in production

COMPENSATION

Salaries may vary by location. The base salary range for this role in New York is $160,000 to $220,000. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a total rewards package that includes an annual bonus opportunity, equity awards through our long-term incentive program, and a comprehensive benefits suite.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and verification of employment, education, and other credentials relevant to the position.
