Job summary

Jobtailor in Houston seeks an AI Engineer to build connectors to major systems and to extend AI agent workflows. You will implement LLM-driven components, write tests, and integrate capabilities into internal apps under guidance from the AI Engineering Director.

Required are 1–3 years of Python/TypeScript experience, API integration skills, and familiarity with LLM APIs. Local or onsite work in Texas is expected, with a focus on responsible‑AI and data governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Data Science or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of professional experience with demonstrable shipped work.
• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, and willingness to master both.
• Experience building against real APIs with authentication and error handling.
• Ability to read technical documentation.
• Hands‑on experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering.
• Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to work with field and office personnel.
• Coachable, organized, and quick learner in a fast‑moving environment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Preferred: Model Context Protocol or tool‑calling architectures.
• Preferred: React and Tailwind.
• Preferred: Docker and cloud deployment.
• Preferred: local model serving or fine‑tuning experiments.
• Preferred: experience in construction, heavy equipment, logistics, or industrial operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and extend MCP connectors against Bigge systems of record, including WorkPro, D365, and Microsoft 365.
• Implement components of AI agents and agentic workflows designed with the Director of AI Engineering.
• Write and maintain tests, evaluation sets, and regression checks before systems ship and after every change.
• Integrate LLM capability into internal applications and APIs under direction.
• Attend process discovery sessions with business units and contribute to process documentation.
• Assist in collecting performance baselines and metrics for departmental initiatives.
• Adhere to responsible-AI practices, data governance standards, and IT security requirements.
• Write clean, tested, documented code.
• Participate in code review as author and grow into reviewing others.
