Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer to build responsible AI systems and scalable AI infrastructure. The role collaborates with engineers, researchers, PMs, and product teams to deliver AI-powered products that transform how customers and associates interact with Capital One.

You will work with a broad stack including foundation model training, LLM inference, vector databases, and guardrails, applying leading optimization techniques to improve latency, throughput, and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with at least 2 years of experience developing AI/ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master’s degree in related fields.
• At least 2 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java

Responsibilities

• Partner with a cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies to build scalable AI systems.
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, scale, cost, latency, and throughput.
