Job summary

Bering Straits Native Corporation is seeking an AI Engineer in Washington, DC to design, develop and deploy agentic AI systems that automate federal HR workflows. This position emphasizes secure, reliable production systems and cross‑agency collaboration.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 1–3 years of relevant experience, strong MS Office skills, and proven ability to communicate with senior management while adhering to security policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment, and operation of production AI and agentic systems that automate complex federal human resources and administrative workflows.
• Architect reliable agentic systems incorporating workflow orchestration, model and tool integration, state management, authorization controls, human review, exception handling, and auditability.
• Build reusable AI infrastructure, components, and engineering patterns that enable agentic capabilities to be deployed across multiple workflows and use cases.
• Develop prototypes and technical experiments, evaluate emerging AI approaches, and transition successful solutions into secure, reliable production systems.
• Design testing, evaluation, monitoring, and failure-analysis methods to measure system accuracy, reliability, performance, and operational effectiveness in rules-governed environments.
• Integrate AI systems with existing applications, data sources, APIs, and enterprise infrastructure while meeting applicable security, privacy, and operational requirements.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, subject-matter experts, and engineering teams to translate operational processes, requirements, and constraints into deployable technical systems.

Wage/Salary Range: $120k - $130k

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent certifications or military work-related experience.

Level of Experience Requirements: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience with managing a variety of deliverables in a fast-paced environment
