Job summary

Microsoft in Redmond, WA seeks an AI Engineer (Contract) focused on robotics and embodied intelligence to develop, deploy, and maintain AI/ML models for Embodied AI and Robotics research. You will integrate simulation environments or robotic arms with learning frameworks and build training pipelines.

Applicants should have 5–7 years in AI/robotics, strong Python and PyTorch skills, ROS2 experience, and a Master’s degree. This onsite, 13-month contract offers competitive pay and robust benefits.

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of related experience in AI engineering, machine learning, or robotics.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating robotic control and perception stacks with simulation frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining training and evaluation pipelines.
  • Experience working with robotic hardware or simulation environments in a research or production context.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
  • Strong proficiency in Python (5+ years).
  • Hands-on experience with PyTorch (2+ years).
  • Experience with ROS2 (1+ year).
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with training robotic models including vision-language-action models, diffusion models, and reinforcement learning policies.
  • Experience with simulation environments or robotic hardware for system integration.
  • Experience performing in-depth troubleshooting and unit testing on both new and legacy production systems.
  • Strong problem diagnosis and resolution skills.

Job description

The AI Engineer (Contract) role is focused on robotics and embodied intelligence, supporting the creation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of AI and machine learning models for research in Embodied AI and Robotics.
