Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Transformative AI Research Economist to build macroeconomic models of AI and develop scenario-based forecasting tools that quantify GDP, productivity, and unemployment under different AI-capability trajectories.

You will ground projections in microeconomic signals from the Anthropic Economic Index and apply frontier methods in growth theory and computational macro to advance AI research and policy-relevant insights.

Qualifications

• PhD in Economics, or an exceptional candidate close to completion.
• Background in macroeconomics, growth theory, or public finance with exposure to task-based frameworks and labor economics.
• A research record showing rigorous analysis of transformative AI scenarios.

Responsibilities

• Build macroeconomic models of transformative AI spanning growth, labor markets, and income distribution.
• Develop and maintain scenario-based forecasting tools; publish forecasts for GDP, productivity, and unemployment under AI trajectories.
• Ground projections in microeconomic data from AI index and observed adoption patterns.
