Job summary

Harvey is seeking a Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2027) to join our Engineering team in New York or San Francisco. You will work with experienced engineers on AI-powered products, collaborating with Product, AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure, intuitive systems that deliver real value to customers.

The internship is 12 or 16 weeks, offering hands-on experience across the stack, real feature contributions, and exposure to production systems.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Graduation date December 2027 or later.
Able to work from our New York or San Francisco offices during our summer cohort, relocation support available.
Previous internship experience is required.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Own a project end-to-end from coding and testing to deploying it to production, and presenting your work to peers and leaders across the company.
Write clean, maintainable code that meets our team's standards. You'll use AI-assisted development tools daily, and you’ll own the quality of everything you ship—AI-generated or not.
Build real knowledge of the systems you support and the users they serve, bringing that perspective into product discussions.
Debug problems in your area, follow escalation procedures, and treat quality as urgent. Our users are lawyers doing high-stakes work.
Collaborate with your team through code review, pair programming, design reviews and technical documentation.
Depending on your team, you could work on retrieval over large document collections, interfaces for collaborating with AI systems, multi-region compute infrastructure, enterprise agents, or secure systems for sensitive client data. You'll also evaluate frontier models alongside senior engineers.
