Job summary

The University of Pennsylvania's Department of Materials Science and Engineering invites applications for tenure-track faculty in a multi-year search for 2026–2027. We seek researchers in experimental or computational materials who develop AI/ML, data science, and materials computation tools to advance electronics, energy, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or related fields.

Qualifications

• Must have a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering or related disciplines.
• Candidates with expertise in AI/ML, data science, and/ or materials computation are encouraged.
• Interdisciplinary collaboration and mentorship experience are valued.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead independent research programs in materials science.
• Contribute to teaching and mentoring of students at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Foster collegial scholarly community and collaboration across Penn Engineering and the University.
