Job summary

Skydio, a leading US drone company, is seeking an intern on the Manufacturing Software team to help scale production of drones, docks, and accessories. You will work at the intersection of backend Python/Flask, embedded C/C++, frontend React/Typescript, and robotics hardware fixtures to build end-to-end manufacturing tooling.

The role focuses on solving cross-functional challenges, debugging hardware-software systems, and learning how to turn prototypes into mass-produced products.

Qualifications

• Strong Python fundamentals and coding skills.
• Comfortable with hardware/software systems and debugging across disciplines.
• Patient troubleshooter who asks for help when needed.
• Enthusiasm for How It's Made or Factorio and building the machine that builds the machines.

Responsibilities

• Develop an AI-powered triage system to inspect drone hardware and suggest repairs.
• Build a Hardware-in-the-Loop testing framework for drones and manufacturing processes.
• Design deployment tools to ship code to machines worldwide with redundant safety systems.
• Create a visual configuration tool to document and change mass production steps.
• Advance robot calibration to distinguish hardware vs software failures and guide rework.
