Job summary

GRAIL is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer - AI to design, develop, test, and deploy AI-enabled software across enterprise platforms. You will collaborate with data science, product, and regulatory teams to deliver scalable AI solutions and maintain software quality and security.

You will work in a hybrid role based in California or North Carolina, with flexible on-site requirements and strong emphasis on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning in AI technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI, Data Science, or a related field.
• Typically 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Python and languages such as Java, C#, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with AI frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or cloud AI services.
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; APIs, microservices, containers, modern dev practices.
• CI/CD pipelines, source control, Agile, automated testing.
• Healthcare/biotech/regulatory environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled software applications and APIs.
• Develop software leveraging AI, ML, Generative AI, LLMs, RAG for business processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Implement secure, maintainable software following standards and best practices.
• Contribute to AI model integration, prompts, evaluation, testing, and deployment.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex software and AI issues.
• Develop automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes.
• Evaluate new AI tools, libraries, and cloud services to improve capabilities.
