Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Fleet Scheduler Data Scientist to design, build, and operationalize AI/ML optimization for its space-ground network. You will lead large-scale combinatorial algorithms and develop predictive and reactive control loops using physics-informed models and telemetry data.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years delivering AI/ML and optimization systems in production environments.
• Experience solving large-scale combinatorial optimization problems (scheduling, resource allocation, logistics, network capacity).
• Strong background in traditional optimization methods (MIP/CP or related techniques).
• Experience modeling graphs or heterogeneous graphs for optimization.
• Proficient in Python and ML/optimization tooling (e.g., PyTorch).
• Experience building data pipelines and deploying models into production.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of AI/ML powered satellite and ground scheduling algorithms.
• Design and deploy large-scale combinatorial optimization algorithms, from MIP to RL-based solvers.
• Incorporate state-of-the-art techniques in graph-based scheduling and planning.
• Create a multi-tiered scheduling system for satellite activities and configurations.
• Develop physics-informed ML models using simulated data and telemetry for tuning.
• Ensure production-grade data pipelines, training, validation, deployment, and drift management.
• Collaborate with satellite engineers to create simulated training data and enforce model constraints.
• Coordinate fleet modeling in design analysis and trades.
• Identify and pursue new AI/ML opportunities across design, manufacturing, and operations.
