Job summary

Expression seeks an experienced Data Engineer to design, develop, and deploy scalable AI-enabled data solutions for DoD CDAO ADA IR. You will build reusable data services, data pipelines, and ML components in secure, containerized environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-critical insights.

The role combines data engineering, applied data science, and production ML responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of recent specialized experience or equivalent.
• Experience with data visualization and data storytelling using Palantir MSS Workshop and Slate.
• Proficiency with Python, SQL, and distributed data frameworks such as Spark, Databricks, and PySpark.
• Experience developing ML models from training through deployment using scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and XGBoost.
• Strong technical communication skills for non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable data ingestion, transformation, preprocessing, and feature-engineering services.
• Build scalable pipelines for structured and unstructured mission data.
• Implement ML capabilities including entity resolution, classification, clustering, and anomaly detection.
• Develop services within secure, containerized environments using CI/CD, version control, testing, and docs.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps to deploy data and ML services in secure production environments with Databricks, Docker, Terraform.
• Ensure production services meet performance, security, and architectural requirements for DoD environments.
• Package model-inference services via documented APIs for integration with dashboards and end-user apps.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and data gaps across datasets.
• Translate analytical findings into actionable recommendations and visual summaries.
• Develop reusable analysis templates and workflows to improve delivery efficiency.
• Engage stakeholders to define data, analytical, and model requirements aligned with objectives.
• Collaborate with software, platform, and DevSecOps to align data science components with constraints.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, retrospectives, and delivery activities.
• Maintain documentation supporting accountability and sustainment.
