Job summary

Anthropic in San Francisco seeks a Research Scientist in its Life Sciences group, blending computational biology with frontier AI. You will analyze large-scale biological data and collaborate with experimental scientists to drive discoveries and validate results.

You will work with Claude and internal frameworks, shaping how AI transforms biological research, while contributing across projects and maintaining flexible problem-solving across biological domains.

Qualifications

• Have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, biophysics, machine learning, computer science, or a related quantitative or biological field, or equivalent industry research experience
• Have a track record of computational biology research you have led end to end, from question to result, with evidence of impact (publications, datasets, tools)
• Have demonstrated breadth across multiple areas of computational biology
• Are proficient in one or more programming languages used in scientific computing and comfortable with Linux and cloud compute environments
• Can take an ambiguous biological question, scope the analysis, and produce a result an experimentalist can act on
• Communicate computational results clearly to both biologists and ML researchers

Responsibilities

• Build, run, and maintain analysis pipelines for the team’s experiments
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to design high-quality data-producing experiments
• Draw on literature and data to generate and prioritize hypotheses for follow-up
• Maintain the team’s computational infrastructure and data interfaces
• Leverage Claude and internal agent frameworks in your work and report learnings back to teams
• Tackle multiple projects with breadth and adaptability
