Job summary

3M is seeking an Automation Architect to shape enterprise automation by turning complex business challenges into scalable, intelligent solutions. You will define the architecture for cloud automation and AI-enabled workflows, building reusable frameworks and guardrails that accelerate delivery across teams.

You will lead technical decisions, mentor developers, and ensure secure, observable, and cost-effective production systems, with on-site work at 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, completed and verified prior to start.
Ten years of software development experience across private, public, government or military environments.
Five years of infrastructure automation experience.
Three years of experience with AI tools.

Responsibilities

Define the long-term architecture and roadmap for cloud automation and AI-enabled solutions.
Design resilient, observable, and secure workflows using cloud-native solutions.
Identify where AI can improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
Build reusable automation frameworks and standards to accelerate delivery.
Guide technical decisions across multiple teams and influence automation adoption.
Mentor upcoming developers to grow engineering judgment and architecture skills.
Lead design reviews and governance to raise the technical bar.
