Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Post Doctoral Medical Fellow in Applied Biostatistics and Clinical Trial Simulation in Ridgefield, CT. The role focuses on building AI-assisted workflows to speed up clinical trial simulations with human oversight and rigorous validation.

You will design agentic workflows, integrate AI with existing R/Python tools, and work with statisticians to ensure robust, transparent results for decision-makers.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field and industry postdoc intent.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or agentic frameworks and prompt design.
• Strong Python, plus R knowledge; reproducible software practices.
• Applied statistics with regression, mixed models, survival, or Bayesian ideas.
• Ability to work across data types and sources with pragmatic methods.
• Experience with clinical trial concepts is a plus.
• Ability to explain technical results to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI-agentic workflows to support trial simulation lifecycle.
• Ground simulation assumptions using evidence from diverse data sources.
• Integrate AI workflows with statistical tools in R/Python.
• Develop scenario and what-if capabilities for cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate reliability, with human-in-the-loop checks and audit trails.
• Collaborate with biostatisticians to keep outputs sound and transparent.
• Perform broad exploratory data analysis across datasets to find value.
• Create reusable, version-controlled pipelines for teams to adopt.
• Communicate results through demos, papers, and presentations.
