Job summary

VORTO is seeking a Backend Engineer who thrives in a challenging industry: legacy supply chains, enterprise customers, and startup speed. You will design, build, and operate mission-critical services that move freight across America, embedding AI agents and stabilizing high-volume systems.

You’ll own core problems end to end, work across stack with Golang, Python, Postgres, and Redis, and participate in a fast-paced, autonomous team focused on speed and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering delivering production systems at scale.
• Strong background in product-driven backend development.
• Deep understanding of performance, scalability, and maintainability of systems.
• Fluency with SQL schema design and data modeling for transactional & analytical workloads.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage LLMs/AI agents to boost velocity and solve novel problems.
• Superior product reasoning and decision-making skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, aligning technical decisions with business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate services used daily by shippers, carriers, and drivers.
• Automate developer-dependent tasks to accelerate internal and customer automation.
• Embed AI/LLMs to automate decision-making and boost developer productivity.
• Stabilize backend services and own problems end to end.
