Swingtech is seeking an AI Developer to design and build secure, accessible AI-enabled applications, APIs, and workflow automations for agency missions.

You will implement LLMs, RAG pipelines, and document intelligence, ensuring 508/WCAG compliance with 3 onsite days at a Washington, DC customer site. A BA/CS and 3+ years in AI/full‑stack development are required, with strong Python/JS skills and secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (CS, SE, IS, or related).
• 3+ years in software development, full-stack, API development, or cloud-native work.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript; knowledge of Java/C#/other modern languages is a plus.
• Experience with REST APIs, databases (SQL/NoSQL), Git, automated tests, CI/CD, and modern dev practices.
• Experience integrating AI/ML, LLM APIs, RAG, NLP, or AI-enabled capabilities.
• Familiarity with secure-coding and application security principles.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional agile environment.
• Willingness to work 3 onsite days at a customer site in Washington, DC.

Position Summary

The AI Developer designs and develops secure, accessible, and maintainable AI-enabled applications, APIs, interfaces, and workflow automations. The position operationalizes approved AI models, RAG services, data products, integration services, and human-in-the-loop capabilities in support of DOL agency missions.

Essential Duties

• Develop full-stack AI-enabled applications, APIs, microservices, dashboards, workflow automations, and enterprise-system integrations.
• Implement capabilities using approved LLMs, RAG pipelines, classification models, document intelligence, predictive analytics, generative AI, agentic workflows, and MCP-based services.
• Develop backend services that integrate with approved models, vector stores, data platforms, identity providers, enterprise systems, and Government-approved cloud services.
• Build accessible web interfaces and dashboards that meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 Level A/AA requirements.
• Implement user-facing human-in-the-loop controls, including review queues, decision-support displays, overrides, approvals, escalation mechanisms, correction/feedback workflows, audit trails, and role-based access.
• Ensure AI outputs are clearly identified, appropriately grounded in approved sources, and presented with citations, limitations, and required user controls.
• Develop modular, maintainable, testable code using secure software-development practices, code reviews, version control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Implement application security controls, including authentication, authorization, input validation, API security, secrets management, encryption, logging, error handling, and rate limiting.
• Support AI-security controls, including prompt-injection defenses, safe prompt/context handling, output validation, controlled tool use, and audit logging.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, API, regression, performance, security, and accessibility tests.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, architecture records, configuration documentation, deployment scripts, runbooks, release notes, and knowledge-transfer artifacts.
• Support production monitoring, release activities, incident response, defect resolution, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related technical discipline.
• At least three years of experience in software development, full-stack development, application integration, API development, or cloud-native development.
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, or other modern programming languages.
• Experience with REST APIs, relational and/or NoSQL databases, Git, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software-development practices.
• Experience or demonstrated proficiency integrating AI/ML, LLM APIs, RAG, NLP, search, automation, document intelligence, or comparable AI-enabled capabilities.
• Familiarity with application-security principles and secure-coding practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional agile environment.
• Must be willing to work 3 days onsite at customer site in Washington, DC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React, Angular, Vue, Node.js, FastAPI, Flask, Django, Spring Boot, .NET, or similar modern web/application frameworks.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, MCP, AI orchestration frameworks, or vector-store integrations.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, serverless technologies, infrastructure as code, API gateways, or cloud-native architectures.
• Experience developing Section 508-compliant applications or performing accessibility remediation.
• Experience supporting Federal IT, Government repositories, secure DevSecOps environments, or FedRAMP-authorized cloud services.
