Job summary

Collective is seeking a Data Engineer to own and scale the data platform powering analytics, reporting, and AI. You will design, build, and maintain pipelines moving data from product, finance, and third-party sources into a BigQuery warehouse, then model and document clean, reliable tables for analysts.

You will join a Data Engineering team in Engineering, partnering with product, analytics, and security to ensure data quality, governance, and scalable data products across the company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional data engineering or analytics engineering experience.
• Experience building data pipelines and data models for analytics.
• Strong SQL and Python skills for production-grade data work.
• Hands-on with modern data stack: BigQuery, dbt, managed ingestion tools, and orchestrators.
• Ability to explain data definitions and trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data pipelines ingesting data from multiple sources into BigQuery.
• Model data with dimensional design, layered warehouse (raw, staging, marts).
• Own data quality, monitoring, testing, and data contracts across pipelines.
• Optimize performance, cost, partitioning, and clustering of warehoused data.
• Establish engineering standards: version control, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code.
• Govern data access, PII handling, and retention with Security and Legal alignment.
• Collaborate with product and analysts to enable self-serve reporting and AI use cases.
• Support AI and analytics by maintaining semantic layers and metric definitions.
