Job summary

BDO USA, LLP seeks an IT Data Engineering Manager to guide the data engineering team in building data pipelines and infrastructure powering AI/ML initiatives. You will partner with data scientists, AI/ML engineers, and stakeholders to translate AI use cases into scalable data solutions, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, and RAG pipelines for LLMs.

This role drives data governance, quality, and responsible AI practices, collaborating with Information Security,

Qualifications

• Six or more years as a data engineer, analyst, or ETL developer.
• Three or more years leading other engineers on data/AI solutions.
• Two or more years supporting ML/LLM initiatives with data pipelines.
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, or RAG architectures preferred.
• Proficiency in Python and data/ML frameworks; cloud platforms experience required.

Responsibilities

• Define and design data pipelines to support AI initiatives and data products.
• Lead data engineering practices with planning, controls, and documentation.
• Provide technical leadership for model training, fine-tuning, and inference data needs.
• Educate the organization on data platforms and responsible AI practices.
• Collaborate with security, compliance, and governance teams across the firm.
• Mentor and coach engineers, manage priorities with business units.
