Job summary

McKinsey & Company is offering a 10-week Data Engineering internship in the US (Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, New York) for summer 2027. You will design and build scalable data infrastructure powering AI applications, working with Data Scientists, ML Engineers, and clients.

You will map data landscapes, develop data pipelines, and gain exposure to Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, and cloud services while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Upcoming graduation between December 2027-August 2028 with a degree in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in a data-focused role, including internships or academic projects.
• Ability to write clean, well-documented code with Python and SQL, with a growing understanding of software engineering best practices such as modular code and version control.
• Interest in or exposure to data engineering in the context of Agentic AI, Generative AI, or Machine Learning across different data formats.
• Familiarity with data platforms and cloud services (Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery; AWS/Azure/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for AI applications.
• Prepare data for AI-driven systems and ensure secure data environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients on data workflows.
• Contribute to next-generation AI capabilities and scalable solutions in production.
