Job summary

Montefiore Health System is seeking an AI Computational Engineer to advance Health Research Informatics at Montefiore Einstein. You will build dependable data and AI capabilities to move from research questions to governed data access, cohort discovery, feasibility, analysis, and reproducible results.

You will develop data pipelines and AI methods, produce maintainable services with tests and documentation, and collaborate with clinical and IT partners to ensure compliant, scalable research

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, or related field with ML/software experience.
• Strong Python and ML framework experience (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience preparing complex datasets, running controlled experiments, and evaluating models.
• Experience using Git and collaborating on maintainable software or pipelines.
• Ability to translate needs across technical and nontechnical colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain research data pipelines that integrate clinical records, text, imaging, and other data sources. Document data definitions, quality checks, and transformations for FAIR reuse.
• Implement governed data access workflows and reusable tools for cohort discovery, phenotyping, and research analytics; translate investigator needs into scoped requirements.
• Develop, benchmark, and validate AI methods, including multimodal models and interpretable approaches for suitable use cases.
• Turn validated methods into maintainable research services with tests, documentation, and handoff to partners.
• Set evaluation plans with investigators and clinical experts, including validation and bias assessments.
• Collaborate with ICTR and Montefiore data teams to implement governance; prepare technical evidence for review.
• Support investigators with consultations, demonstrations, and reusable examples; contribute to publications and grants.
• Track service measures and report progress to the CRIO.
