Job summary

Bank of Montreal seeks a seasoned cybersecurity architect to secure AI capabilities enterprise-wide, including GenAI and Agentic AI. You will partner with Cybersecurity, Risk, Legal and Engineering to embed secure AI patterns and threat models across training, deployment, and inference, within a hybrid work model.

You will lead AI security strategy, align with risk priorities, support RAIOps, and ensure regulatory readiness for financial services.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years overall experience in cybersecurity, with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • 4-5 years experience in a Security Architect role with 2 years experience specifically in AI Architecture.
  • Expertise in cloud security, application security, and data protection.
  • Strong understanding of AI system architectures.
  • Strong understanding of financial services regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop AI/GenAI security controls and threat models across model lifecycles (training, deployment, inference).
  • Define patterns for secure AI platforms (cloud-hosted, APIs, internal models) and enforce security requirements across AI pipelines.
  • Partner with Cyber, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering to secure AI across the enterprise.
  • Support audit readiness and regulatory exams related to AI and GenAI.

This role is responsible for securing Artificial Intelligence (AI), both Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI, capabilities across the enterprise, ensuring they are resilient, compliant, and aligned with financial industry regulatory expectations.You will engage with various business and technology stakeholders to ensure that proposed AI implementations adhere to the enterprise’s cybersecurity standards. This role will require you to partner closely with your peers in various Cybersecurity, Risk, Legal, and Engineering teams in identifying and solutioning cyber controls related to securing AI across the enterprise.Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise AI Security StrategySupport BMO’s AI security strategy alignment to our Cyber and Risk prioritiesDevelop AI-specific threat models across the model lifecycle (training deploymentinference)Integrate AI security into Zero Trust, cloud security, and data protection frameworksAI Risk & Control FrameworkWork with cybersecurity and risk peers to ensure established AI security controls align to a given business/technology initiativeStay current on industry business and technical trends with respect to cybersecurity governance practices with an emphasis on Artificial IntelligenceProvide support for BMO’s Responsible AI Operations (i.e., RAIOps) practicesAdvise BMO’s 2nd line AI Risk function in review of AI related use casesSecure AI ArchitecturePartner with Cyber, Enterprise Architecture, and Engineering to define patterns for AI/GenAI platforms (cloud-hosted, APIs, internal models, enterprise copilots)Enforce security requirements across AI pipelines:Data ingestion and preprocessingModel training and tuningDeployment and inference layersPerform security architecture design reviews for all AI use cases prior to production deploymentThird-Party & Vendor SecurityPartner with Cyber peers to define security requirements and support assessments for external AI vendors and platformsEnsure alignment with vendor risk management, data protection, and residency requirementsRegulatory & Audit ReadinessEnsure AI systems comply with applicable financial regulations and supervisory expectationsProvide or contribute to audit-ready documentation and evidence of control effectivenessSupport regulatory exams and internal audits related to AI and GenAISecurity EnablementProvide guidance to AI engineering and platform teams on secure development practicesDrive enterprise awareness of AI security risks and controlsEnable safe, scalable adoption of AI across the organizationQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or relevant discipline10+ years overall experience in cybersecurity, with demonstrated leadership experience4-5 years experience in a Security Architect role with 2 years experience specifically in AI Architecture (and all security related aspects)Expertise in cloud security, application security, and data protectionExperience securing AI/ML or advanced analytics platformsStrong understanding of AI system architectures.Strong understanding of financial services regulatory environmentProven ability to build and operationalize security frameworks at scaleStrong communication skills.Experience supporting audits and regulators recommendedSalary :$122,400.00 - $228,000.00Pay Type:SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
