Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation (HF) seeks an AI and Digital Access Specialist to focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and digital access as it relates to underserved, underrepresented communities across the United States and its territories. The Specialist will evaluate the impact of AI with culturally competent analyses on the lives of Latine communities and other communities struggling with the pace of change. The Specialist will work to ensure AI developers, practitioners, and decision-makers across various sectors are aware of the changes within AI technologies and capability. Additionally, the Specialist will support in research regarding how AI impacts workforce development and impacts on access to jobs for Latine communities, the largest growing workforce in the US.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive research and analysis, assessing trends, and providing actions insights to guide decision making. The ideal candidate will have experience working with underserved and underrepresented populations and understand the challenges faced by those communities as new systems and technologies emerge.

This position is hybrid and will require onsite presence either in the office or on the field with a minimum of 10 days onsite.

Position Location: Washington, DC

Reports to: Vice President for Federal Advocacy and Network Mobilization

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out policy and data analysis and related research on AI and digital access and will work across HF’s issue areas.

Conduct in-depth market, technological, and regulatory research related to AI and digital access initiatives, support the creation of HF’s formal AI policy platform.

Develop reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations for internal teams and external partners.

Facilitate stakeholder engagement and promote knowledge sharing across relevant sectors

Develop a plan for evaluating and analyzing relevant AI and digital access policies at the federal level that affect communities served by Hispanic Federation, monitor and evaluate Federal policies and legislation.

Prepare issue briefs, talking points, testimony, and advocacy letters on policy matters.

Perform data analysis and research related to AI and other identified policy areas.

Draft rapid response policy statements as needed.

Schedule and attend meetings with stakeholders to effectively communicate HF policy priorities

Required Skills and Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree, preferrable with a focus on government, public policy, data science, technology, and/or research, minimum three (3) years of professional experience in policy research, analysis, writing, and advocacy required

Demonstrated ability to carry out applied research and analysis to assess needs and evaluate current policies

Willingness to gain knowledge of federal requirements and limitations on legislative advocacy by nonprofit organizations

Familiarity with one or more of HF’s public policy issue priorities especially immigration, education, economic empowerment, and health.

Demonstrated skills in writing effective, concise policy-focused materials

Strong verbal communications skills

Strong ability to develop work plans, synthesize complex policy information, meet deadlines, and manage multiple policy projects simultaneously

Strong commitment to the Latine community and to HF’s mission and values

Excellent interpersonal skills, with a flexible and collaborative spirit

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

Training in law or a graduate degree in Public Administration, Data Science, Technology, Political Science or Public Policy

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and methodologies

Knowledge in AI technologies and access equity

Public policy and advocacy experience focusing on the Latino community

A high-energy self-starter who is curious and a quick learner

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $65k-$75k and is commensurate with experience. Compensation includes fully subsidized medical, dental, vision insurance, access to flexible spending for medical and transportation, and a 403 (B) retirement plan with match after 6 months of service.
