Job Description

Abilene High School is seeking an Assistant Boys Tennis Coach forthe upcoming spring 2027 season. Abilene High School is committed to developing student athletes through a positive, competitive, and growth-minded approach. We are looking for an enthusiastic coach who is passionate about teaching tennis, building strong relationships, and helping student-athletes reach their full potential both on and off the court.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated coach to join a dedicated staff, contribute to a strong tennis program, and help continue the growth and success of Abilene Boys Tennis.

Duties of the position include (but are not limited to):

• Teaching and modeling the Abilene Athletics & Activities core values of Commitment, Effort, and Teamwork.
• Coaching in a transformative manner that builds strong relationships and helps student athletes grow not only as tennis players but also as people.
• Teaching tennis fundamentals, stroke development, footwork, positioning, singles and doubles strategies, and competition skills.
• Preparing and implementing efficient, focused practices that emphasize skill development, tennis IQ, and continuous improvement.
• Working collaboratively with the head coach to develop student athletes and build a positive, competitive team culture.
• Assisting with match preparation, tournament organization, athlete development, and other aspects of the boys tennis program.
• Providing positive leadership, organization, and encouragement while helping create a culture of excellence within the program.
• Following all policies and guidelines set forth by KSHSAA, USD 435, and Abilene High School.
