Overview

AHD Radiologic Technologist, Multi-Modality [MAMMO & DIAGNOSTIC] Internal Only

Location: Alameda, CA — Alameda Hospital — AHD Radiology

Responsibilities
  1. Under close supervision, perform a variety of duties in the Department of Radiology/Imaging Services related to general radiography and fluoroscopy.
  2. Perform diagnostic imaging examinations of patients as directed for diagnostic and treatment purposes according to established procedures.
  3. Assist Physician in administering contrast media as needed.
  4. Rotate assignments within the department to meet operational needs.
  5. Process images for the modality (CR/DR/Film) and utilize the PACS system (Picture Archival Communications).
  6. Maintain adequate records of examinations, dose, and contrast; use two patient identifiers for each exam.
  7. Assist with patient movement (rooming/transport).
  8. Assist in developing/optimizing technical factors for radiographic procedures.
  9. Assist with procedures not routinely taught in school and, if applicable, assist in training students.
  10. Perform a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment within designated areas.
  11. Perform general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties as directed by the employer.
  12. Practice sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
  13. Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of the environment and supplies.
  14. Ensure utilization of non-expired supplies by checking stock and using a first-in, first-out approach to restocking.
  15. Produce radiographs, position and transfer patients, and provide immobilization devices as necessary to obtain images.
  16. Provide radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  17. Utilize techniques that promote ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure on an individual patient basis.
  18. Select and operate imaging equipment as directed and licensed to perform.
Qualifications

Required Education: High school Diploma or equivalent, graduation from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.

Preferred Education: Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Experience: Proficient in a minimum of three modalities.

  • Modalities may include X-ray and Fluoroscopy, with one additional modality required. Internal promotions must meet prerequisites prior to promotion; external hires must obtain CT/MRI/PACS within 6 months.
  • CT (Computed Tomography) – ARRT (CT) Required
  • Mammography – CRT (M) Required
  • MRI – ARRT (MRI) Required
  • Permanent Lead for designated shift
  • Primary responsibility for compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) through record keeping and reporting
Licenses and Certifications

Required: Valid ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification, and other ARRT certifications as relevant; valid Fluoroscopy Permit issued by the State of California; BLS - Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association.

Note: Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with required licenses or certifications, is qualifying.

Pay Range: $66.4751 - $83.9609 /HR

The pay range reflects Alameda Health System's base pay scale. Final compensation depends on experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and organizational needs.
